March 11- Shreveport LA. The other other LA. Like Lower Alabama,
like Louisiana.....its a semantics thing. It was a real nice spring
day as we left the capitol, I dropped the roof on the car and let the
wind and sun bathe us. We drove a piece down the Natchez Trace, its a
historic trail that leads from Jackson Mississippi to Natchez. We had
the road pretty much to ourselves and it was lovely.
We drove west into the sunset with hundreds of big rigs all shiny
and yakking it up on the CB. A crop dusting plane made its passes
nearby swooping low like it was going to crash and then pulling up
into the sky. Just as dusk fell we arrived in Shreveport. We are no
longer in the deep south. This is the south ...just plain south. We
were a bit disappointed that the river boats have turned into a bunch
of cheesy gambling joints permanently anchored in one spot. See, the
only way to have a legal casino here is to have it "on water",
so they just park the boats :(. Our new favorite station,
,
says its getting even warmer tomorrow. That should make it easier to
find diamonds in the diamond mine...
