So things were going along well when I heard something unusual from Mike: "What the hell is THAT?" Like... Mike knew all this stuff about all the cars and the drivers, but this was something out of the ordinary, and loud. It took everyone's attention as it readied at the gate... It was exciting to watch it run, faster than anything on the field, running the course in a head spinning 36 seconds. Coming off the course behind this lovely Boxster... at least I knew what that was... I tried to catch up with the folks with this car to find out more about it but they weren't in the mood to talk. They probably are tired of hearing "What the hell is THAT?" Mario writes: That winged contraption is a highly tuned home grown beast which runs in a Modified class. Things like that are built by guys who could have designed the space shuttle. Works of art. Yep, you will see all kinds of cars at an autocross. Boxters have become very popular in A Stock. From what I hear their mid engine design makes them very good auto-x cars. |
