Back at the BMW booth, I checked in to see where the crowds were headed... I was pleased to see as many folks checking out the nearly hidden Z3 as the prominently displayed Z4... not bad for a car that has been out of production nearly a year... BMW displayed some nice 745i and E46 M3 models... and a very nifty Z4 model.. Jon noticed that they had Xpel'ed their Z4- are they having paint chip issues? There was no display for the armed forces, the FDNY or the NYPD this year. We had a chance to witness a man on a Segway near the Ford Trucks display downstairs, but there was no way to test drive one. The Meow Mobile. The tongue moves. The tail wags. It's pretty scary. So.... As we left the Javitz Center we passed the Intrepid Museum wearing what must be the biggest yellow ribbon in the world. BMW showed no concept cars and no new cars, having shot their wad last year with the Z4 and the Mini. The Mini display was very cute and full of the usual jokes that break with the determined stuffiness of the BMW we have come to know and love. |
