I didn't really fool around with the stereo, and I do not claim to be an expert about sound systems. Far from it. We did find some rock with a strong bass line and I cranked it up and my seat shook without blowing a speaker. I turned down the radio to listen to the engine. It wasn't what I expected. It's a muffled kind of light sound. The car's ride is stable, very stable, and wide. I had the dangedest time getting used to the clutch. I had the same problem in Todd's Z3 3.0. Drive by wire I guess. Emmy's clutch is also funky, and I have adapted to working out the kink. I dunno, the Z4 just wasn't that much fun to drive. This is going to sound really harsh, but I expected more from BMW. On the other hand, it's clear as a bell that the Z4 inspires the same kind of driver as I have been fortunate to meet driving Z3s and other special BMWs and other marques. The most elusive and unique feature and performance value for my heart and mind, making new friends over cars. Since I originally posted these pages I have heard from these passionate Z4 owners and can't wait to see them at the next drive and speak to them online. Thanks BMW for introducing me to more great people and teaching me more about wonderful cars. Jim B writes: **My MZ3 was 240 HP vs. 225 HP for the Z4. The Z4 is marginally lighter - ~ 50 KG as I recall - and **might** (I can't remember, quite honestly) have a slightly higher final drive ratio, all of which will equate to similar performance. A higher HP MZ3 (313 HP) though, should still enjoy a significant advantage. |
