INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE
BMW/PC-KNNSR |
Always check the P.I.E.
DPX Protocol Converter Application Guide before installation to ensure you have
selected the correct P.I.E. part for your specific vehicle. |

CAUTION: Before any
connections are made, P.I.E. strongly recommends that all circuits be verified
with a voltmeter before interfacing with them. Always set the parking brake
before working on any vehicle. |

DO NOT force connectors
together as pin damage may occur. This installation will be flawless if you
take your time making the connections described below. Following the
installation sequence below is critical to ensure proper recognition of the CD
changer by the factory radio. |
|
The
BMW/PC-KNNSR can be used in the following applications: CD-Changer OR Music Keg
interface, Sirius-Tuner interface, Sirius-tuner and Music-Keg, CD-Changer and
Sirius-Tuner interface |
INSTALLATION: |
NOTE: BMW
radios are code protected. Verify that the code is available before
disconnecting the battery. |

1. Disconnect the negative
battery terminal.
2. Locate the factory data cable (3-pin and 6-pin).
3. Plug the factory data cable into the 3-pin and 6-pin sockets of the
BMW/PC-KNNSR. When used as a CD-Changer (OR) Music-Keg interface: (see diagram)
4. Plug one end of the Kenwood data cable (supplied with Kenwood device) into
the female 13-pin DIN of the BMW/PC-KNNSR.
5. Route the Kenwood data cable to the Kenwood device location, being careful
NOT to pinch or damage the cable.
6. Plug the Kenwood data cable into the mating connector of the Kenwood device.
(see diagram). When used as a CD-Changer and Sirius-Tuner interface: (see
diagram)
7. Plug one end of the Kenwood data cable (supplied with Kenwood Sirius-tuner)
into the female 13-pin DIN of the BMW/PC-KNNSR.
8. Route the Kenwood data cable to the Sirius-tuner, being careful NOT to
damage the cable, and connect to the "To Head Unit" plug.
9. Connect the Changer data cable (supplied with changer) to the "To
Changer" plug of the Sirius tuner and route to changer location. When used
as a Sirius-Tuner and Music-Keg interface: (see diagram on back)
10. Plug one end of the Kenwood data cable (supplied with Kenwood Sirius-tuner)
into the female 13-pin DIN of the BMW/PC-KNNSR.
11. Route the Kenwood data cable to the Sirius-tuner and connect to the
"To Head Unit" plug, being careful NOT to damage the cable.
12. Connect the M-Keg data cable (supplied with M-Keg) to the "TO
Changer" plug of the Sirius tuner and route/connect to Music-Keg location.
13. Reconnect vehicle's negative battery terminal. |

VERIFY
OPERATION: |
|
1. Load CD's into the CD
changer cartridge and insert the cartridge into the changer.
2. Press CD or Mode button to access CD changer mode.
3. Only when used as a Sirius/CD-Changer interface, use the "RANDOM"
feature to toggle between Sirius and CD-Changer modes. |
