Douglas Hoy
MSgt Christopher Bowen recently
shared his connection with you and presented each member of our squadron,
the 447th Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron, with an FDNY Ladder
20 t-shirt.
Thank you very much for your generosity and kindness. More importantly,
thank you for your support and encouragement. It was greatly appreciated.
Your actions have even more meaning to the 33 men I am serving with
in the 447th ECES Fire Department based here at Baghdad International
Airport. Our group is made up of Air National Guard firefighters from
Wyoming, Kansas, New York and Pennsylvania.
Most of us also serve as firefighters in the civilian world. As you
can see, the expression of kindness was particularly heartfelt because
of the bond we have with our brothers and sisters of FDNY. To strengthen
that bond, among our ranks, we have two FDNY firefighters (one from
Engine 16 and one from Engine 308) and two members of Pennsylvania's
Urban Search & Rescue Task Force One (the first search and rescue
unit called to duty on 9-11). We know why we are here. We need no other
motivation. And, we are giving 110 percent so that their sacrifices
won't be in vain.
WE WILL NOT FORGET!!
To say thanks to you for your support, we would like to send you and
the members of Ladder 20 some tokens of appreciation including a Baghdad
International Airport Fire Department t-shirt and a 447th ECES Fire
Department coin. I have also attached a photograph of the entire fire
department here at BIAP.

Gifts delivered to Ladder 20 September 11, 2004-
