DSC00974
The back end as the new style line of lights- and a clear panel.
It looks nice but I am not so sure there is an advantage to people
being able to see what's in your trunk or letting their headlights
shine into your car. |
DSC00973
Still overall, a hot concept
car- and it's positively grinning face. |
DSC00980
Small Chevrolet Concept
cars, also using alternative energy with names like "Beat"
"Trax" and "Groove". This brings up the audio
issue, and more than one car would have the music turned up so loud
as to drive away people like me. Note again here the retro stylings.
|
DSC00977
While "Beat" in day glo lime green yellow is all futuristic
on the side, from the front it harkens back to the 50's. |
DSC00978
At this size they make good company for the MINIs. |
DSC00979
Stylings like the 1940s here. |
DSC00983
By the time I saw this Camaro Concept
car it was just obvious. The styling of the future is what is
best of the retro, with accomodations only for the innovations that
actually mean something. This car is just plain gorgeous. Hot. Even
the paint scheme is the exact same one from the 60s. |
DSC00984
There is no doubt what the expression on this car's "face"
is
saying. |
DSC00986
Interior evolution is the same as exterior- the placement of the
instruments doesn't vary, but their chores evolve. Everything where
you expect it to be, just doing more. Lovely design. |
DSC00987
Simple. Elegant. Red hot stitching. Someone has taste. |
DSC00981
Even with the small tail lights, the car sits with a stance like
the 60's. |
DSC00988
OK, I am not so fond of the wall-of-paint tail end, it needs a bit
of work there- but generally, I would not mind being passed by this
car. |
DSC00989
Bentley convertible. Why white? Even Paris Hilton's is a pretty
blue color. |

Again the wall-of-paint rear end- but still, this is an exciting
concept car- and energy alternative |
DSC00995
Cadillac's Roadster... it's a pretty car. |
DSC00997
The interior is a little strange... what's going on beside the gearshift?
Faux wood obscuring.... what? |
DSC00998
Nice Cadillac derriere. |

Lamborghini Superleggera debut....
JonT got a nice little model of one upstairs at the Auto Show vendors

Saturn Sky Roadster. Are we noticing a pattern yet for these new
cars? Curves, identity, angles in details, retro hood vents, innovative
flush mounted turn indicators built into the bumper,
Solstice-type roll hoop humps, low profile doors. This car does
not need to be "retro" because it has no history, it
makes a new face.
|
DSC01009
Very Solstice-like rear but holds it's own. Again a rear spoiler.
Again the squared-off exhaust tips. |
DSC01011
Sky interior. No big screen in the dash. |
DSC01013
Again, I would not mind being passed by this car. |
DSC01022
The face of the future may be a little blank, as it is on this Ford
Airstream
concept van. Its like a face wearing wraparound mirror shades,
and looks practical. It must be easier to clean and perhaps protect
the headlights from chips. |
DSC01019
Hard shell seat backs were seen in some of the new cars, I dont
know that they are so comfortable. I also don't know the purpose
of the cylinder light set in the middle of the car, unless it is
meant to be a permanant lava lamp. We see the front passenger seat
rotated to face the rear, as if it was a traveling living room.
I would not want to be in that chair facing backwards though. |
DSC01021
Sort of a limousine set up inside. Interesting but utterly impractical.
It would make a nice apartment for a small "mod" family
in New York City- if there was somewhere to park it. |
DSC01023
Aston Martin... |
DSC01024
Not really sure what they were going for here... the colors are
ketchup and mustard, what's going on with the small lights inside
the headlights towards the center of the car? |
DSC01025
The lovely humps I am attributing to the Solstice, but I know they
are... yes... retro. Even though its an Aston Martin, and all of
that- those colors are just awful, separate or together. |
DSC01026
Better color Aston Martin. Still, those little lights should be
on the outside not the inside of the "eyes". |
DSC01027
Pretty. Gills. Retro. |
DSC01028
Aston Martin line-up. Mind you- every booth including this
one, the staff are looking at the customers, talking to them, demonstrating
the cars... except BMW. |

Lincoln's MK-R
Concept Car |
DSC01031
i wish I got a better shot of the interior, lovely chrome details
even on the seat piping. Hard shell seat backs though. |
DSC01034
The list of features was extensive. |
DSC01042
Jaguar has married this new gill style for all their new models-it's
just plain ugly. |
