Nora's Unit in Iraq |

This re-enlistment ceremony was probably near the day Nora thought
she'd be leaving Iraq... |

June 12, friends saying hello and good bye and Nora thought she
would be leaving soon... but the gremlins of travel had jumped into
her bag, and delayed her trip home... again... and again... her
4 days in NYC were now looking more like 2 days |

June 18- and Nora is finally home in Texas with Ashley- this camera
date is still on Iraq time |

I think Jenelle is happy her Mom is home... |

Nora, probably about 2 hours off the plane from Iraq, heading back
to the airport for NYC... |

And the travel gremlins are still in Nora's luggage... flight delays,
gate changes... but finally on the plane... |
DSC01946
... and still smiling... It's still June 18 in the US, but the camera's
calendar is still on Iraq time, so it says June 19 |

The first time I saw Nora in person, it was about 1am New York time,
and the travel gremlins had whacked the Mosely family with another
blow. The hotel was overbooked, the idiot at the front desk decided
this would be a good time to give a family a hard time, and I got
out my New York City whoop ass kit. After over an hour with the
idiot, we schlepped the family to another hotel for a night. |

With the kids finally in something resembling a bed, I gave the
Moselys their jam-packed itinerary for their less than 48 hours
in NYC... |
day1
This is the closest I can come to giving a representation of what
June 19 was for the Mosely family. This is how a car would drive
it, but they were doing it all on foot and by subway. There was
also a ferry ride involved to the Statue of Liberty, but there will
be plenty about that coming...
Here's a Google
Link with most stops |

This is the walking path in blue for the morning... from the hotel
to have breakfast and pick up HUGE sandwiches for lunch at one of
the famous Delis, then by Radio City Music Hall to Rockefeller Center,
to catch Bon Jovi playing at the Today show. Then their virgin experience
on the New York Subway system- on their own. Never having seen it
before, with just my directions
and a metro card in hand. |
